I am Stephen, or Pastor Paz. I would like to share a little about me.
As I grew up, I frequently found myself battling some sort of evil, or injustice. Whether it was the local bully, either defending myself or someone else, or the exploitation by those who wanted to take what didn't belong to them, I have never backed down from a fight.
At 15, i began making an hour and half journey, one way, 5 days a week, to the "mean-streets" of the inner city. I walked, hopped buses, and ran, to and from, a boxing club. It was an experience that would change me forever. I became aware of the poverty, and
desolation, that kids from the upper middle class, from quiet suburban towns, are
usually never touched by. I was. I was touched. (The depth, and effect, of that touch
would lay dormant until several years later, when God would call me.)
Although I enjoyed a great success those years in the sport of boxing, winning bouts and championship, training and sparring with famous and even world champions, even receiving an invitation to train at the Mike Tyson training camp, (when that was something to be proud of...), I was not destined to take my boxing beyond that point, as my Olympic dreams became shattered during a near death accident that left me disabled, and discharged from the military.
Then God saved me. The love of God, through Jesus Christ, touched my life. My life was healed from the very first moment I bowed my heart at an alter of repentance, where I surrendered my heart, my life, and my sins, to the Lord Jesus Christ. The moment I asked Jesus to come into my heart, and be my Lord, my Savior, and my King, He showed Himself mighty to save, and I was instantly set free and delivered from the depression that gripped my soul, and the drug addiction that was dragging me into the pit of hell.
A few months later, God would heal my crippled leg, from the accident that should have claimed my life. In one moment, as I reflected on a statement that a Man of God spoke into my soul, I immediately felt prompted to pray, and as I did, I sorrowfully stated how I would like to be able to kneel before my Lord and King, Jesus, but, couldn't due to my crippled leg. In that same moment, the power of God was poured out upon me, like standing under a waterfall- and I DID get drenched! I was drenched in the presence and power of the Almighty God, and the love of my Heavenly Father. I suddenly found myself dropping to my knees, and in tears, shouts of joy, and praise for my Lord, I was healed!
Well, since that day, there have been many other such healings, and demonstrations of the power of God, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, to those who believe on His name:",( John 1:12), the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! ( I have come to learn that there is nothing that my Heavenly Father isn't concerned about, when it comes to His children). To those who are willing, by faith, to reach out, He makes Himself known.
Since those early days of my born-again experience, It has been my privilege to be a part of the work of the Lord, and build the kingdom of God. Approaching nearly 20 years, now, I have been able to minister and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ from one end of this country to the other, as well as reach around the world. The Lord has allowed me to participate in such endeavors as secular inner-city youth programs, as well as initiating inner-city outreach programs, touching the lives of children, and families, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition to ministering, preaching, and teaching God's word in the community, I started a world-wide internet radio broadcast, starting with just 15 minutes, once a week, to at it's peak success, 2 one hour broadcasts per week!
Involvement with "helps" has always been a staple in my christian walk, whether it was working along-side my brothers and sisters, building and renovating churches, fellowship halls, or homes, or shoulder to shoulder, pushing back the poverty and the gates of hell by loading 40 foot shipping containers, filled with clothing, educational supplies, nutritional drinks and supplies, medical equipment, even a fire truck and two ambulances. I have poured my heart and soul into reaching and loving the lost, caring for the hurting, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and by the grace of God, and for the Glory of the Lord, trying to make a difference where ever I have been.
